Stage results of the use of orthoses in children after surgical treatment of congenital spine deformity (Preliminary report)

BACKGROUND: After surgical treatment of congenital spinal deformities, we can see the progression deformities column segments free from metal structures, which leads to need for reoperation. Without sufficient scientific evidence, several specialists after use various orthoses on body prevent scoliotic compensatory changes.
 AIM: This study aims assess results orthosis children with deformity impaired formation vertebrae, using orthoses, one year treatment.
 MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty-five patients aged 2 12 years (10 boys and 15 girls) spine in thoracic regions (13) lumbar (12), wearing orthoses. The were assessed at 3, 6, months thermal sensors time by X-ray statistical methods.
 RESULTS: three brace, saw a correction about 50% value initial deformity. six months, both lumbar, was 60%. year, when performing an image without orthosis, stabilized remained level 40%. In original returned, i.e., occurred but not fixed orthosis. Only 25 (4%) required second operation increase fixations duration.
 CONCLUSION: observing group (25 children) showed positive effect functionally corrective correct secondary deformities.
